Desmond Enabulele, the Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, has charged the newly inaugurated chairmen and board members of the 37 sports associations in the state to actively scout for sponsors to support their respective associations, ensure accessibility at all times and participate in appraisal meetings quarterly with the Executive Chairman and board members to assess progress and address key challenges.”

He made the charge while inaugurating the chairmen and board members of the 37 sports associations in the state at a ceremony held inside the indoor hall of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City on Wednesday morning.

Going on further he called on the newly inaugurated chairmen to actively seek sponsorship opportunities to support and sustain their respective associations, adding “funding is crucial for the growth and success of our sports programs, securing sponsors will provide the necessary resources for overall development.”

He opined that “accessibility is also an essential area as regards sports development. As a leader, you must be available to address concerns, guide athletes, liaise with coaches and foster a culture of teamwork among members of your association.”

Enabulele stated that “to maintain progress, we will implement appraisal meetings quarterly between the executive chairman, board members and chairmen of various associations. These meetings will serve as a platform to evaluate achievements, discuss challenges and strategies for continued success.”

On the sidelines of the inauguration, Sabina Chikere, the Executive Director of the Commission, in a chat with reporters, disclosed that the chairmen have been saddled with the task of ensuring that things run smoothly in their different associations with the aim to project them on a high pedestal towards producing world class athletes.
