Shocker: Okpebholo suspends Attorney General, Shaibu’s ally from his cabinet

Shocking news emerging from the Edo State Government House is the suspension of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie and the Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Damian Lawani. 

Making the announcement, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Musa Ikhilor, said that Governor Monday Okpebholo “has approved the suspension from office of the Chairman of the Edo State Local Government Service Commission, Hon. Damian Lawani and the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Samson Osagie over allegations of grave official and financial infractions. The suspension is with immediate effect. 

“Consequently, the Governor has ordered the setting up of an investigative Committee to investigate the allegations levelled against them and make appropriate recommendations accordingly.”

The statement emphasized that the suspension of the duo became necessary to enable the government carry out a thorough investigation into the allegation levelled against them. 

Osagie, a former two time federal lawmaker, hails from Uhunmwode Local Government Area while Lawani, a former member of the Edo State House of Assembly and an ally of the former deputy governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, is from Etsako Central Local Government Area.
