Rights activist mourns death of Uniben student

Human rights activist and President of the One Love Foundation Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, has joined the many people mourning the recent passage of a final year student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) who was murdered in a cult related manner.

“The security outfit that is in charge of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) in Ugbowo isn’t doing well.

“My blame is on the security at UNIBEN gates, UNIBEN security itself and the portal, there’s absolutely no point paying them or calling them “security” when they cannot guarantee life and properties in the hostels.

“The hostel is supposed to be a safe abode for all university students but in UNIBEN the case is the reverse. I want to use this opportunity to call on the Federal Government to expedite action in fishing out the perpetrators of this dastardly act and also serve a disciplinary action to the current securities and the portals.

“Furthermore, the Federal Government should work hand in hand with the Vice Chancellor, Professor (Mrs.) Lilian Salami, to boost up the security architecture in the school.

“I also want to use this to state demands that will help, Godwin Obaseki and Federal Government should restore back to the security all active securities, and also CCTV camera should be installed in strategic places.

“Governor Godwin Obaseki should ensure that there is enough light in UNIBEN during night or during odd hours.

“My heartfelt condolence goes to the student’s family, his friends and above all the Vice Chancellor, Professor Salami, and then the entire staff as it is not a thing of the joke to lose final year student.”
