Residents in Ekehuan Road axis of Benin City are in jubilant mood as the contractor working on the dualisation of Ekehuan Road in Benin City, which serves as the main access to the Benin River Port project, has resumed work on the site, after initial delays due to the lockdown imposed as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Governor Godwin Obaseki awarded the contract for the dualisation of the road as one of the first steps to opening up the axis for high vehicular traffic and economic activities that would be experienced on the road when the construction of the port begins in earnest.

A businessman in the area, Moses Eholor, said: “The governor is a man of his word. The contractor has returned to site after the COVID-19 break. We are glad to see them working seriously between Asoro and Ugbighoko axis on Ekehuan Road.

“Governor Obaseki has once more reaffirmed his commitment to fast- tracking work on the road and other road projects across the state in fulfillment of his promises on infrastructural development and urban renewal. It is impressive that the project has continued even before the governor’s inauguration for a second term in office. We are indeed blessed to have such a focused and dedicated man as governor.”

Another resident, Osagie Elvis, noted: “We are excited to see the contractor resume work on the road, which shows the governor’s zeal to deliver on his campaign promises to Edo people.
