Our attention has been drawn to a series of fabricated and maliciously concocted messages being circulated with the intent to tarnish the reputation of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and others while misleading the general public.
We wish to categorically state as follows:
1. The allegation that Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu hosted meetings where plans to disrupt the tribunal were discussed is completely false, mischievous, and malicious. Pastor Ize-Iyamu’s residence is neither an APC secretariat nor a venue for clandestine activities. This claim is not only fictitious but also betrays the desperation of its author.
2. The contents of the purported meetings are nothing but figments of the imaginations of the propagandists. From discussions about violence to baseless insinuations regarding the use of thugs, the allegations are a clear attempt to create a narrative of unrest where none exists. Pastor Ize-Iyamu, a respected clergyman and leader, is a provincial pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Edo state. He is a man of peace and a law-abiding citizen who remains committed to lawful conduct and due process. Associating his name with such unfounded and violent rhetoric is a gross disservice to his character and values.
3. We strongly condemn the spread of such dangerous and criminal falsehoods, which are not just propaganda but deliberate acts of defamation. It is unacceptable for individuals to fabricate events and conversations that never took place, falsely linking people to non-existent meetings and plotting imaginary crimes.
4. Those responsible for these lies must be reminded that defamation is a criminal offense with serious legal consequences. We call on the relevant authorities to investigate and hold accountable those behind this smear campaign.
5. Since the so-called publication lacks any credible authorship or verification, making it a clear act of cowardice, its intent is clearly to incite fear, sow discord, and create unnecessary tension in Edo State.
6. We therefore urge members of the public to disregard this fabricated piece and remain vigilant against such desperate attempts to manipulate public opinion.
Erhauyi Alfred Iyekekpolor,
(Principal Secretary to Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu)
