He said the new campaign against one-way driving in the state is aimed at restoring sanity and order on roads in the Benin metropolis, vowing to arrest and prosecute any motorist who violates the state’s traffic laws.

Yusuf-Osagie said, “Officials of PUWOV have apprehended another commercial bus driver in the Benin metropolis who was driving against traffic, disregarding the state’s traffic laws and posing a serious threat to the lives of other road users.

The sky blue and yellow Nissan Vanette bus, with registration number, GUE-110ZY has been impounded while the driver, Bright Okorie, who was apprehended at the Upper Mission Lucky Way Junction, has been arraigned before a mobile court and will face prosecution in accordance with the state’s extant laws.”

Describing as worrisome the frequent disregard for traffic rules and regulations by motorists in the state, the PUWOV Coordinator noted, “While the government steps up efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic and ensure safety on our roads, we call on all motorists, including commercial bus drivers and private car owners to desist henceforth from flouting the state’s traffic laws and driving against traffic (one-way)

“We also solicit for the collaboration of all road users and motorists in the state and urge them to report drivers who flout traffic laws and drive against the traffic (one-way). Members of the public can record motorists disregarding traffic regulations on our road and send a video of the recording to the WhatsApp Number: 08132030846.”
