Breaking News: Road rage on Benin – Lagos Road aftermath of EFCC, Police midnight raid

How trigger happy policemen killed civil society leader in Benin

Anti-kidnapping and cyber crime unit of the Edo State Police Command on Monday gave an update on its action since early January to arrest Rachael Eboni Osazee Iyonmana, on allegation of cyberstalking, intimidation, defamation and false information levelled against her by Agbonlahor Law Firm representing the Chairman of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ), Comrade Festus Alenkhe, disclosing that it has synergized with the Nigerian Immigration Service with a view of arresting the suspect.

Addressing the media, the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Command, SP Chidi Nwabuzor, said: “Recall that on the 11” day of January, 2023, the Chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, wrote a Petition to the Commissioner of Police, Edo State, over alleged offence of Cyber Bullying/Stalking and Defamation of Character, against one Rachael Eboni Osazee Iyonmana.

“In the course of investigation, the suspect was declared wanted in Special Police Gazette Bulletin. The unit wrote a letter to the Assistant Inspector General (AIG) of Police, Force CID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos State. While the Police was on her trail to effect her arrest, intelligence revealed that the suspect was in Canada.

“And she just opened multiple facebook accounts, using the petitioner’s photographs and full names to open the facebook, using demeaning, derogatory languages to defame the petitioner’s personality. The Command as we speak receives enough copies of Special Police Gazette Bulletin distributed and pasted in conspicuous places with booty of the sum of N1,000,000.00.”

Adding, “The Nigeria Police have synergized with Nigerian Immigration Service with a view of arresting the suspect.”
