Information reaching your soaraway, digital newspaper, Popular News, is that a doctor, a Physiotherapist, working with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital(UBTH) was shot dead on Friday.
Popular News gathered that what led to the incident, that caused a huge shock in the university community, is yet to be unraveled and that the Police has been called into the matter by the management of the hospital to get to its root.
According to sources, the cold blooded murder was committed as occupants of a vehicle were pursuing occupants of another vehicle in a hot chase and there was gunshots which resulted in the death of the doctor.
In a telephone chat Joshua Uwaila, the Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the hospital, confirmed the report. He said that the management of the hospital has reported the matter to the police and are awaiting the outcome of their findings.
He denied the insinuation going around that the victim was shot dead while on duty inside the UBTH premises.
“The whole thing happened outside the UBTH premises. It occurred on the stretch of road linking the University of Benin and the UBTH premises not inside the UBTH,” Uwaila stressed.
