The Deputy Director General of Media of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship Campaign Council in Edo State, Pastor Leo Olu Martins, has called the attention of security agencies to the plot of the opposition to hide under the planned nationwide hunger protest to attack the state legacy assets.
He made the disclosure at a Press Briefing in Benin City on Thursday afternoon.
“The opposition has clandestine and evil agenda to burn down government properties, especially legacy properties. We hear that the plan is to go to the Benin City mall, Secretatiat and a couple of other places to destroy. We thought that we should quickly bring it to the notice of the media.
“To help us inform the security operatives. What’s critical is that whatever the government has done with regards to these facilities they didn’t do it for a political party. They did it for the Edo people.”
Adding his voice, the state Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Chris Nehikhare, disclosed that intelligence report at the disposal of the state government is that a meeting of high ranking opposition members was held where the modus operandi of the attack was marshalled.
Crusoe Osagie, the Special Adviser, Media Project to Governor Godwin Obaseki, said that the opposition was resorting to causing havoc in the state ahead of the forthcoming governorship poll to distract the people knowing that they’re parading a nonsellable candidate.
He charged the law enforcement agencies to be proactive in keeping a watch on the elements of confusion so that they could be checkmated from carrying out their evil plans.
