Pipeline Surveillance Contract: Lokpobiri, Kyari instigating new crisis in Niger Delta, group warns

A Niger Delta militant group, the Supreme Egbesu Freedom Fighters of Niger Delta(SEFFND), has warned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to be cautious of the rising tension along the creeks and waterways of the Niger Delta region over alleged secret deal involving the Group Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC-L, Mr. Mele Kyari and the Minister of Petroleum (State), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri to re- award a new Pipeline Surveillance Contract and to hand it over to former militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo(aka Tompolo).

According to the SEFFND, the award of the contract to Tompolo alone and undermining other ethnic nationalities and stakeholders from the oil producing communities in the Niger Delta region and as well as sidelining some of the major prominent ex-militant leaders and critical stakeholders from the region that played critical role in the last Presidential election that brought in Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will only set the region on fire.

The SEFFND, in its statement issued by ‘General’ Agadagba 1, alleged that the proposed award of the contract to Tompolo alone without sitting down with most of the prominent ex-militant leaders and key critical stakeholders from the Niger Delta region will only throw the region into turmoil and crisis, and return the it back to the old days of insecurity and violence.

It also said if the entire pipeline surveillance contract is awarded to Tompolo alone, undermining some of the prominent ex-militant leaders and critical stakeholders from the Niger Delta region that played major role in the last presidential election that brought Bola Ahmed Tinubu to power then their will be war in the region, because the likes of Tompolo and his co-travelers were opposed to the candidature of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in support of Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Infact, Atiku won in Tompolo’s polling units, wards and the entire Warri South West Local Government Area that Tompolo have influence.

“Now it is that same man that, the GMD NNPC Mele Kyari and Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, have decided to re-award the entire pipeline surveillance contract to.

“The SEFFND fighters will not fold our hands to watch and allow such to happen and we have decided to join hands with other militant groups and stakeholders from the region to declare war against the GMD NNPC Mele Kyari and Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri.

“We have also compiled the list of those cabals in the corridors of power, who have already collected billions of dollars in other to re-award the pipeline surveillance contract to the same old contractors at the detriment of other ethnic nationalities and stakeholders from the region.

“SEFFND wants to make it clear to the federal government and Nigerians that, if this contract is re-awarded through the back door without conveying a meeting of foremost former militant leaders including Tompolo, Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, King Ateke Tom, ‘General’ Ebikabowei Victor-Ben(aka Boaloaf), High Chief Bibopre Ajube(aka Shoot at Sight) and other notable ex-militant leaders and critical stakeholders in the Niger Delta region, whatever that will befall the oil pipelines and the oil facilities in the region should be blamed on Kyari and Lokpobiri.”
