Scores of less privileged people, physically challenged and destitutes in Benin City, were thrown into joyful mood on Wednesday when a non-governmental organisation, Wise Foundation, reached out to them by way of philantropy to ease their plight.
Founder of the foundation and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Wise Properties, Mr. Wisdom Ofoughe, said giving back to the society especially the less privileged has become the hallmark of his yearly birthday celebration which comes up every 30th of June.
Mr. Ofoughe, who explained that growing up was very challenging having lost his loving father at the tender age of three, said having what to give to uplift others has remained a source of joy to him.
He challenged other well-to-do Nigerians to sometimes take time out of their comfort zones to render assistance no matter how small to the less privileged among us.
Ofoughe, who spoke through one of his mentees, Mr. Ino Moses Jonah, revealed that the exercise is not limited to orphanages as scholarships have been given to a lot of indigent students with a host of other persons receiving funding from the philanthropist to support their businesses as well as vocational training.
Items given out to the various orphanages included: bags of rice, tubers of yam, vegetable and palm oil, noodles, seasonings and undisclosed amount of cash.
Some of the homes that benefited from the philanthropic gesture of the Wise Foundation included: Aid People Change Orphanage Home, Edo Orphanage Home, Amadin Orphanage Home, Project Charilove and numerous destitutes at the Holy Cross Cathedral, on Mission Road, Benin.
