Paul Omo Okojie, who is vying to succeed Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, as the senator representing Edo Central District in the National Assembly in Abuja, has extended a goodwill message to his constituents(Christians and Muslims) as they go into abstinence in obedience to the dictates of their faith.
The senate hopeful who is making his aspiration on the Labour Party (LP) platform charged the faithfuls to use the period to align appropriately with the teachings of their faith by showing love to all and sundry and also being their brother’s keeper at all times.
According to him, “I congratulate the people of Edo Central (Christians and Muslims) who at this period are fasting in adherence to the teachings of their faith. The period should be that of abstinence and reflection on how the teachings of the different faiths should be adhered to for the upliftment of mankind and the betterment of the society even as we live in peace with our neighbours.
“We should show love to one another even as we maintain peace in our neighborhood at all times knowing that we are our brothers keepers in these trying times in our dear nation.
“These are the barest minimum we can ask for to push our narrative to the top echelon of progress, stability and togetherness, a task will need to achieve and pass on to the coming generations of Nigerians as nation building is not an assignment that should be left in the hands of a few.”
Going further, he promised that his emergence as a senator to represent the Edo Central District will put a stop to past issues of poor representation which has bedevilled the constituency and wish has reflected in its gross underdevelopment.
“I am seeking your support to put a final stop to this issue of underdevelopment that is very noticeable in Edo Central. Together and with God’s guidance we shall get it right. My presence in the National Assembly will be a stepping stone to bigger dreams I have for my people,” he submitted.
