General Elections: Osaro Obazee’s promises to his constituents

Honourable Osaro Obazee, who is campaigning to represent Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives while flying the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming general elections, has promised to leverage on his credible antecedents as chairman of Oredo Local Government Council between 2013 and 2016.

He made the promise in a media interactive session in his campaign office in Benin City on Thursday.

Till date his three year tenure as Chairman of Oredo Local Government Council is being talked about with nostalgia with many referring to the period as the golden years of the council’s existence.

Some of his achievements as Oredo Council chairman includes among many others – flood control in some of the communities that make up the council; provision of health centres in some localities; remodernisation of a popular cemetery with the provision of a chapel for worship before the burial of the dead; construction of blocks of classrooms in a horde of communities and rural electrification of some communities thus connecting them to the national grid to curb the menace of rural-urban migration.

His promise to better the lot of his constituents when he gets to the House of Representatives in Abuja includes vigorously pursuing legislations “that will deepen the nation’s economic fortunes, strengthening the purchasing power of the ordinary Nigerians and improving on the performance of our currency in an attempt to tackle rising inflation and reducing the poverty level of Nigerians in the process.”

On security, he stated: “I will strive to ensure that all security agencies are strengthened while influencing employment of able bodied men and women in my constituency who wish to be part of the security architecture through recommendation.

“I will liaise with relevant stakeholders in the security sector to ensure adequate security for my people just as I intend to build security structures as part of my constituency projects.”

Speaking on health, he asserted: “I will, as a matter of priority, ensure modern and fully equipped affordable health centres that will be built in strategic locations across my constituency.”

Obazee promised to “pursue legislations that will properly recognise traditional rulers in the constitution as this will engender peace, development and the need for value reorientation as a strategy for societal growth and advancement.”

Going further, he stressed, “I will ensure that women and youth who wish to acquire skills are trained in various vocation and further given startup capital to begin a business of their choices.”

On sports, the APC candidate said: “I will put adequate sports infrastructures in place in Oredo Federal Constituency as part of my constituency project as this will in no small number ensure that my youths who are passionate about sports realise their dreams.”
