Open letter to Edo State Deputy Governor, Phillip Shaibu

His Excellency, Hon Phillip Shaibu,  Deputy Governor of Edo State.

You Are Economical With The Truth.

I have often restrained myself from discussing you publicly ,  even when sometimes I have cause to criticize your actions. This is so because of the respect you accord me whenever we meet.

You have always made me believe that you continue to remember your days of little beginning.

I don’t want to dabble into whatever quarrel you have with your father, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, even when you appear to me to be over reacting, exhibiting  youthful bravado.

However, I am unable to keep silent on your false claims in one of your recent encounters with the press.

You boasted that you have never lost election in your constituency.

Whereas you know you were far from the truth.

I was Edo State Publicity Secretary of ANPP in 2003 when you first contested for the State House of Assembly seat in your constituency.

You lost to PDP. When you returned to the state secretariat of ANPP you lamented that the then Deputy Governor, Chief Mike Ogiadomen  rigged you out.

You told us how then National President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC,  the same Comrade Adams Oshiomhole bankrolled you and fought though unsuccessfully to protect your mandate.

What do you hope to gain from distorting history of how you benefited from your well known benefactor.

Why are you ashamed to admit you once lost election before you started winning?
You loose nothing from telling the true story of your struggles.

Rather,  your story would encourage others not to give up whenever they fail.
Secondly, you claimed that you introduced Comrade Oshiomhole to politics.

Haba Phillip!  Even when you know that we the key actors in the episode are still very much around?

When I introduced Comrade Oshiomhole into politics in 2005 on the platform of ANPP, you and late Barrister Greg Haruna were errand boys to him.

You were not his official aides in NLC but hanging on him for runs.
You know the details.

You lived with him in his official residence at Danube Close.

My dear Phillip, don’t exhaust your strength and wit on this battle because it will soon be over. If by miracle you win the September 19 governorship election, another stanza of the battle will surely begin.

And if you lose, you will soon after be praying for intercessors to save you.

Either way, the coast will become clear very soon . What lesson are you teaching your children when they hear you calling Oshiomhole your father and at the same time abuse him.

Please fight with caution.

Comrade Godwin Erhahon
