Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo has highlighted his administration’s commitment to fulfilling electioneering promises through the initiation of more developmental projects.

Speaking during a service at the St. Anthony Catholic Cathedral in Uromi, Edo State, Governor Okpebholo revealed that he has awarded several road contacts aimed at enhancing infrastructure development within the state.

Accompanied by key members of his administration, Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to God for his electoral successes and the favourable ruling from the election petition tribunal. He emphasized the importance of community cooperation in driving development, promising that his administration would work diligently to improve the lives of the people.

Reflecting on his journey, the Governor recounted his past visits to the Cathedral, seeking prayers during his senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns and elections, ultimately returning to thank God and the congregation for their support. He assured the people of Edo State that significant developments are on the way across all spheres of life in the state.

Among the notable projects announced is the construction of a dual carriageway that will connect Uromi to Ubiaja, a move designed to facilitate better transportation links and support economic growth in the region.

“Work has already commenced on the Ubiaja side, with plans for additional lanes reflecting our commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the Esan region,” he stated.

Governor Okpebholo also mentioned plans for alternative routes to reduce congestion, including a new road from Uromi to Iworah, via Unewa and Uwesan, where ongoing developments are already being observed.

In a gesture of goodwill, the Governor made a donation to support the continued development of the Cathedral, underscoring his connection to the Church Community and commitment to local initiatives. Governor Okpebholo said he aims to reinforce his administration’s focus on infrastructural development and improve the overall quality of life for residents.

The Bishop of Uromi Diocese, Right Reverend Ogun Donatus Osa, thanked the Governor for his move to ensure peace in Uromi and the State at large, following his actions after the killing in Uromi. He noted that this was the first time a sitting Governor will be coming to the Church to thank God on his own. He urged the people of Uromi and the state at large to collaborate and cooperate with the Governor to develop the state and make life better for the people.
