Tsunami hits PDP in Edo as Assembly Speaker lead many others to APC

President of the One Love Foundation, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, has charged Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to stop making a fool of the people of the state.

The rights activist was reacting to stories making the round that the state government is on the verge of constructing an airport in Edo North.

“The governor should stop making a fool of Edo people. Edo people are wise, civilized and educated. If a governor cannot tar or find a solution to Ihama Road(close to the state Government House). Ihama is in GRA for God’s sake. If it rains for three days the road is not assessible.

“Can you please tell the governor to make the road assessible and control the erosion instead of talking about building an airport. Do you think building an airport is a child’s play. Do you know how long it takes to build an airport? He is just going to sign MoU again and give money to foreigners who are going to be consultants.

“Godwin is making a fool of the Edo people. I am not included in that foolishness. No, I am not.”

On creation of employment opportunities, Eholor said: “If there is anything that can be taken as zero I will give the Edo State Government zero. You know how long that Godwin Obaseki told us that he was going to do the Gelegele Seaport. He signed MoU with a lot of money and today there is no Gelegele Seaport. There’s no beach in Benin.

“I had a consultant that was going to construct the first beach on Ekenwa Road the area close to Gelegele because he (Godwin Obaseki) has made a lot of noise, signed MoUs. He didn’t do anything. If he had done that Gelegele I had partnered with a company in California and China who were going to give me speedboats.

“Do you know that we can decongest traveling on the road to Epe(in Lagos State) in 35 minutes. This speedboat is going to be a very large one. It is going to have a wifi, a restaurant, club etc and it would reduce our suffering. But Obaseki didn’t do it.

“He talked about doing an industrial park. He didn’t do it. He was talking about doing a modular refinery. He didn’t do it. He talked about doing electrification. He didn’t do it. I don’t have power supply here(where his hotel is situated) for seven days now. I have been using generator, buying expensive diesel and petrol to run my business. It is so sad.

“We hope that these people will one day know that we’re not a conquered people. This is not particular to Obaseki alone. It cuts across the country. Look at Wike in Rivers State, the way he conquers his people, insults them, rigs elections and all that.

“Look at our governor here. The other day they were conducting House of Assembly elections. As we speak Egor result is still being held by Obaseki. The naughty professors, the educated illiterates, they stole the result. They couldn’t announce it. Do you have to win all the 24 seats in the House of Assembly? Life is about live and let others live. Whatever we sow is what we will reap.

“For me, I am going to continue doing what I am doing. I am going to continue been kind to people so that the world and God can also be kind to me. Nothing lasts forever. Soldier go, soldier come barrack remains. I have seen a lot of governors.

“They have to rethink that we are not a conquered people. They have to show us respect. They have to support our business. They have to create an enabling environment. We have to hold them accountable to their promises.”
