Obaseki inaugurates Alaghodaro/Inauguration Committee

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, inaugurated the Alaghodaro/Inauguration Committee ahead of this year’s Alaghodaro Summit, scheduled to take place between November 8 to 15, 2020.

The inauguration of the committee, headed by Mr. Asue Ighodalo, was performed by Obaseki at Government House, Benin City.

The governor said: “Some of you are not new to this work; as you all know Alaghodaro has now become an event that takes place on the anniversary of our administration every year.

“It’s about four weeks to our November 12 inauguration and we have a lot of work to do to catch up so that we can prepare adequately for inauguration this year.

“The inauguration is going to be drastically different from what we used to do in the past as a result of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We would like to have as many people participate physically in all the events particularly the Alaghodaro, as we used to have, but it may not be possible as a result of COVID-19 protocols.

“Therefore, the committee needs to be able to tweak the arrangements and organisation such that we can reach more people digitally than we used to.

“The inauguration committee has been blended into the Alaghodaro Committee because both events fall within the same week.”

Speaking on behalf of the Chairman, Mrs. Ifueko Alufokhai, thanked the governor for giving them the privilege to serve in this year’s Alaghodaro and inauguration committee.

She said: “I commend your vision for hosting Alaghodaro Summit this year as it will give your government the opportunity to showcase your numerous achievements in the last four years as well as to develop a clear outline for the framework to sustain development in the state for the next four years.”
