Tsunami hits PDP in Edo as Assembly Speaker lead many others to APC

Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has reaffirmed his administration commitment to reforms that will ensure that children in the state can compete favourably with their peers across the globe.

In a statement to commemorate the 2023 Children’s Day, the governor said children in the state are being equipped with the best tools so they can fully harness their boundless energy and limitless potential.

He said, “Every Children’s Day presents another opportunity for us to celebrate those who are most cherished to us and who hold the brightest prospects for our future – our children.

“On this special occasion of Children’s Day, we reaffirm our commitment to providing enabling infrastructure and empowering them with the best tools, so they can fully harness their boundless energy and limitless potential. As a government, we will prioritize expanding facilities in healthcare, education, and other vital sectors, ensuring that the children of Edo can compete favourably with their peers across the globe.

“In the last six and a half years, we have executed transformational overhaul of the education sector in the state, and are grateful to our teachers, parents, and other stakeholders for their support.”

Obaseki noted, “With over 300,000 children benefiting from the Edo State Basic Education Sector Transformation (EdoBEST) initiative, we have expanded the programme to integrate secondary and tertiary institutions across the state.

“We are also bringing primary healthcare closer to our children and mothers to make provision for their basic healthcare needs more efficient and accessible. From the inception of this administration, we pledged to execute reforms that will allow our children to grow and flourish, and guarantee a brighter future for them.”

He added that the state government “will continue to pursue programmes to make our children the best version of themselves as we believe our Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda cannot be achieved without them.

“Together, we will create a nurturing environment where every child can thrive and where their dreams can take flight.”
