Bendel Insurance on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, returned to winning ways as they defeated Akwa United 1-0 in the Match Day 36 of the Nigeria Premier Football League(NPFL).
Skipper Meyinwa Oritseweyinmi scored the only goal of the match in the 53 minute to give the Benin Arsenals a deserved 1-0 victory over the relegation threatened side at the magnificent Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin.
Insurance FC which have had difficulty in getting maximum points in their last two home games against Rangers Int’l and Nasarawa United now have 53 points to remain 6th on the league table and will be at home again in the Match Day 37 fixture against Heartland FC of Owerri. The match is scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025.
It would be recalled that Bendel Insurance pulled a 1-1 draw with Akwa Utd in their first round encounter in Uyo.
Speaking during the post match interview, the Head Coach of Bendel Insurance FC, Greg Ikhenoba, said that he was happy to get the maximum points. However, he admitted that his boys did not play to his satisfaction despite the 1-0 victory.
“The important thing to us is the victory. Let me thank the players for the victory. There is room for corrections ahead of our next game,” he submitted.
