Hon. Patrick Aisowieren, the Commissioner representing Edo State on the Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has come to the rescue of the Minister of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, whom some youths in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State accused of commissioning a non existing road project.
Aisowieren said that the allegations against the Minister is laced with lots of falsehood as “he is not a contractor neither is he working for the NDDC. He was just invited to commission the first phase of the project which has been completed. The second phase is in the budget. Nobody said that the project has been completed.”
He stated that it is only a portion of the road which is 9.8km that was commissioned by the Minister of Regional Development.
“Nobody claimed that the federal government has done or completed the Oben Road axis of the project. The road is breaking into three phases. Phase one has been completed and commissioned. The Commission will commence work on Phase two then Phase three.”
According to Asowieren the 12.18km Oben-Umugun Road axis which is linking the Benin-Abraka Highway in Orhionmwon has not commenced.
