First female Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Ativie, who is gunning to represent Uhunmwode/Orhionmwon federal constituency in the House of Representatives in Abuja, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023, has promised to continue her strings of impactful projects as a House of Assembly member when she gets to the green chambers of the National Assembly.

She recollected that in her days in the Edo State House of Assembly she was instrumental to setting up a mobile clinic to cater for the health needs of her constituents who suffered from lack of a government hospital in the locality.

“Every Thursday, my medical team, made up of qualified health workers, was on the road moving from ward to ward and attending to the various health challenges of my people(constituents).

“Not only that my signature of impactful projects was in every ward of my constituency such that many meaningful projects were replicated to the advantage of all and sundry,” she disclosed.

Going further down memory lane, the trained nurse said that in her days as the chairman of the Edo State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria(NYCN) she initiated qualitative projects to better the lives of the youth.

One of such projects she disclosed was the Youth House situated at the Central Business District of Benin City which still stands till date and which she stated was constructed with funds generated by her exco.

Hon. Ativie frowned at money politics which has pervaded the nation’s political landscape calling on the electorates to shun such politicians with deep pockets whose sole mission in politics is to trade the people’s mandate and leave them high and dry at the end of it all.

She stressed that representing the people at the national assembly should not be left at the whims and caprices of green horns as such could have a negative effect on what the people benefit from in terms of attracting meaningful projects to the constituency and securing dividends of democracy.
