Engr. Chris Aigbovbiosa Ogiemwonyi, a former Minister of State for Works, has poured eulogies on the departed Chief David Edebiri, the Esogban of Benin Kingdom.

The retired Group Executive Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC) recalled his over twenty years relationship with the late nonagenarian journalist cum politician.

“I met Daddy in 2003 when I was deployed to (Nigerian Petroleum Development Company) NPDC, Benin, during a courtesy visit to late Oba of Benin, of blessed memory, Oba Erediauwa, who was a remarkable great monarch. I enjoyed 20 years (2003 – 2023) of father-son relationship with late Esogban of Benin, Dr. D. U. Edebiri.

“He subsequently invited me home therein thanked me for numerous people I assisted while in(National Petroleum Investment Management Services) NAPIMS and encouraged me to continue.”

Going further, he highlighted thus “at this time, he was the President of Benin Forum whose objective among others was to establish wealth in the Kingdom.”

Ogiemwonyi recalled that Chief Edebiri was “an accomplished politician spanning over 70 years who was involved in the formation of the Otu-Edo wing of the (National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons)NCNC party.”
