Stanley Orobosa Odigie, who presently occupies the position of National Provost of the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria(CDGN), has set his sight on becoming the Vice President of the body via the election coming up on Saturday, April 24th, 2021, in Asaba, Delta State.
In a chat Stanley said that he may be young in age but he is not a newcomer in the movie making business having had his first major engagement in the Nollywood industry on August 3rd, 1997 as a child actor.
“Since then there has not been any going back as I have on the average been involved in at least three movies every year. I have done some films that I cannot even remember their titles.
“Presently, I am doing a web series for one of the biggest American TV channels doing production in Nigeria. I have groomed some boys who are now masters in their own right and have even gone ahead to groom some others.”
On the film that has been his biggest challenge so far, he said: “For me, every film I have been involved in has been taskful. I always strive to make my next job better than the previous one I did.
“But I guess a local champ, which I planned and a few days later I started shooting it. At a point I had nothing to work on. It was so tasking. Luckily, a whole lot of people came to my rescue.
“The presentation for the film in my estimation was not normal. In my previous work people pay me to come and work for them so I have all the freedom to do thinking for myself. However, in this instance I was thinking for myself and others. After that I have produced and directed seven films.”
On his role model, Stanley said: “I grew up liking Chief Pete Edochie. At a point the attention switched to Richard Mofe Damijo(RMD) and I grew up in the industry liking him and wanting to be like him. At another point in my life I started working for him. He is my main mentor.”
He disclosed that what has been his motivating factor in seeking to move to a higher office in the guild is his desire to support the President in moving the association to the next level having in his present position been instrumental in making some states join the league of ‘big boys’ of the guild.
His Campaign Manager, Oduware Osaghae, chips in a word, “my principal is someone who has a feeling for the betterment of the guild. Call him anytime and he comes up with good response on how to take the guild to the next level.”
