In the spirit of the celebration of the 2026 Eldel-Fitri, the Chairman of the South/South Council of Yoruba Traditional Rulers, Oba Suleiman Oluwaloni has extended his heartfelt fecilitations to all moslem faithfuls across the South/South geo-political zone of the country, calling for harmonious and peaceful co-existence among not only themselves but Nigerians as a whole.
In a fecilitation note signed and made available to newsmen at his palace in Yenagoa, Oba Oluwaloni stated that the annual celebration of Ramadan is a veritable opportunity for moslems in the country to fulfill one of the five pillars of Islam which commands obedience to Prophet Mohammed, stressing that the period also serves as a way of purifying the soul and fosters emphaty for the less privileged people in the society.
According to him, abstaining from food, drinks and negative behaviours from dawn to sunset, moslems increase self discipline, gratitude and devotion to divinity, adding that it also serves as a channel to draw closer to God, increase piety, seek forgiveness and grow spiritually while appreciating the blessings of God.
The monarch used the opportunity to urge moslems to imbibe the spirit of unity, oneness and dedication to the tenents of Islam as a religion, noting that such attitude is the surest way of contributing their quota towards achieving and witnessing the much desired socio-political and economic growth of the country.
He further opined that Islam is a peaceful religion as against the erroneous and widely acclaimed notion that the religion is an instrument to perpetrate violent actions and behaviours that are inimical to societal growth and sustainable development.
Oba Oluwaloni however urged his moslem brothers and sisters to pursue and create peaceful atmosphere wherever they live and pray for the leaders across the country from the federal, states and local government levels so as to place the country on the path of peace and continuous development.
