Breaking News: Road rage on Benin – Lagos Road aftermath of EFCC, Police midnight raid

Breaking News: VeryDarkMan to be released today – EFCC source

A global NGO, One Love Foundation, a leading Civil Society Organisation(CSO) in Nigeria, some lawyers and others have in an interview praised the Directorate of State Services(DSS) for arresting Godwin Emefiele.

In a Press Statement by Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor(aka Ultimate Equals), President of the One Love Foundation, and the others, they averred that they are clamouring for the prompt prosecution of the suspended Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) governor for sundry crimes and offences. They expressed surprise on why an organisation with a pseudo name like the lawyers under the aegis of United Lawyers for Rule of Law Defence should express misinformed outrage over the arrest of Emefiele by the DSS.

One Love Foundation and its lawyers wonder what is illegal in the arrest of a suspect, who has been on the radar of DSS for a long time over mind blowing atrocities and allegations. The group further cautioned the supposed faceless lawyers and other similar CSO/groups to desist from antagonizing the DSS and allow it to perform its statutory functions.

In further reaction, the One Love Foundation and its allies stated that they are fully aware of the 2022 FCT High Court orders which restrained the Attorney General of the Federation(AGF), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN).

That the court orders in that case were specifically tied to issues of naira redesign been implemented by CBN under Emefiele and not to prohibit the trial and prosecution of Emefiele in any guise.

According to the One Love Foundation “by virtue of an earlier Court of Appeal case law and judgement, the investigation, arraignment and prosecution of Emefiele is legal and he can be arrested for alleged sundry offences and accordingly charged to court.

“So legally we wonder which law is a certain pseudo advocacy group relying upon to hold unto their unlegally views that Emefiele cannot be arrested and tried for sundry criminal offences.”

One Love Foundation praised the DSS and charged it to go on with its investigation and conclude it swiftly with a view to arraigning Godwin Emefiele in court.
