Tsunami hits PDP in Edo as Assembly Speaker lead many others to APC

Obo Effanga, the Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), has stated that he has no hand in the collation and counting of election results. He stated that the duty is assigned to the Collation Officer.

While reacting to the submission of Murphy Imasuen, the Labour Party (LP) flagbearer, who complained of been shortchanged by the electoral umpire in the course of vote counting and collation of the results.

“I have no hand in the counting and collation of election results. The process is under the purview of the Collation Officer. When the message got to me about the alleged shortchange I passed the information to the Collation Officer who promised to handle it appropriately.

“If per chance it couldn’t be resolved by him it can be passed on to the national body of the Commission made up of the national chairman and the national commissioners who within a week will take their decision on the issue.”

Two days to the supplementary election, Isaiah Osifo, the former Chief of Staff(COS) to then Governor Oserheimen Osunbor, said: “On behalf of the good people of Orhionmwon/ Uhunmwode Federal Constituency, we call on the Chairman of INEC and appeal to all patriotic Nigerians with conscience to stop the evil conspiracy of Edo State INEC to steal the Labour Party (LP) votes and correct the error or mischief of the INEC Returning Officer.

“The over two thousand(2000) votes excluded by INEC from the Labour Party in the Orhionmwon/ Uhunmwode Federal Constituency should be added during the compilation of the supplementary election results.”

LP candidate, Imasuen, lost the election to All Progressives Congress (APC) flagbearer, Billy Osawaru
