Ijaw traditional ruler, His Royal Highness, Henry Binidodougha, the Ovuru the first of Ofunama land in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo State, and his entourage, were warmly received and given a lavish reception in the Palace of the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare 11, on Wednesday on the occasion of the Igue Festival.
The Ijaw traditional ruler had led his chiefs accompanied by traditional dancers to the Palace to participate in the annual Igue Festival like other ethnic groups in Edo State and they had a thrilling time.
Responding to enquiries from journalists, Binidodougha said that the recognition he and his chiefs and the traditional dancers got from the revered Benin monarch was worth appreciation.
He averred that the fatherly disposition of the Omo N’Oba N’Edo to their presence at the magnificent Benin Palace for the Igue Festival celebration has put a lie totally to the wrong impression being created by some elements most especially in the Ijaw Communities that there is no love between the Benins and the Ijaws.
He showered praises on Oba Ewuare 11, while wishing him a long reign on the throne of his forefathers laced with wisdom.
