IGP promises to expedite action on Osawaru’s threat to life petition

Hon.(Chief) Billy Osawaru, the member representing Uhunmwode/Orhionmwon Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in Abuja, has gotten the assurance of the Inspector General of Police(IGP) Olukayode Egbetokun, to expedite action on his petition as it relates to the defamation of his character and serious threat to his life. 

In a response to the petition, CP Johnson Adenola, the Principal Staff Officer(PSO) to the IGP stated that “I am to inform you that the Inspector General of Police has directed the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Criminal Investigations Department to investigate your complaint.”

Hon. Osawaru had earlier forwarded his petition regarding the defamation of his character and serious threat to his life to IGP Egbetokun for investigation.

Meanwhile, the federal lawmaker, who holds the traditional title of Obazunhunwa of Benin and Chief Useni Elamah, the Okaivbiore of Benin, represented the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolopolo, Ewuare 11, on Friday at the party held to mark the 67th birthday of Chief Mike Ozekhome(SAN), were the cynosure of all eyes as they were properly decked in their Benin traditional chieftaincy attire. 

The party, which also had in attendance three former Nigeria Presidents namely Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Goodluck Jonathan and General Yakubu Gowon(rtd), was the talk of the town as it attracted the creme-de-la-creme of the society as they gathered to celebrate the legal luminary. 

A few days ago Hon. Osawaru kept to his campaign promise to impact on his constituency when he facilitated the installation of solar powered street lights in Obadan Community in Uhunmwode Local Government Area.

In a related matter, Hon. Osawaru has refuted claims of his purported suspension by some elements in his constituency saying that the perpetrators of the illegal action “have since been suspended from the ward by over two-thirds majority of the ward excos with a vote of no confidence passed on the Chairman for sundry allegations of incompetence, highhandedness and gross misconduct hence their illegal counter suspension can best be described as a futile attempt at grandstanding.”
