Save Nigeria Group (SNG) has appealed to the Edo State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Paddy Iyamu, to shelve his Senate ambition for now.
In a statement by its Convener, Razak Zekeri, the group advised Iyamu to contest for a House of Representatives seat instead where he can offer better representation.
“Hon. Paddy Iyamu, the Edo State Commissioner for Education, has stamped his footprint in the sands of time in his ministry and his philanthropic gesture is well known. Thus he needs no further introduction.
“He is eyeing the Edo South Senatorial seat which is not against the Constitution of Nigeria. But considering the high tension that is presently associated with that ambition it is advisable that he shelves the ambition for now.
“Rather, he should go for the House of Representatives where he can rise to become the first Edo man to be elected as Deputy Speaker. Moreover, he has age on his side. In a few years time he can fulfill his senatorial ambition,” the SNG posited.
Hon. Paddy Iyamu is a frontliner for the 2027 Edo South Senate ticket on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
