A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered service of the originating motion and court order on Prince Bala Audu, who is the Aide de’ Camp(ADC) to Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki in a suit filed against him, the Governor and two others by a former Commissioner in Edo State, Barrister Adaze Emwanta.
The suit which was brought under the fundamental rights enforcement procedure, seeks to determine whether Obaseki is entitled under law to harras or intimidate the Claimant, on account of a media interview granted wherein the corrupt practices of the Governor was exposed.
The ADC to the Governor was joined as a party to the suit, because of the strange whatsapp messages he forwarded to the Applicant during the period of harassment by the Governor.
At the resumed hearing presided over by Hon. Justice Olajuwon, Emwanta who appeared in person moved his motion for an order for substituted service on the ADC to Obaseki, who has been evading service of the court processes and order to show cause.
He therefore sought the indulgence of the court to exercise it’s discretion to grant the order for service by substituted means on Audu via the Edo Liaison Office address in Abuja. The matter was adjourned to May 7, 2024 for report of service.
