The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has joined the media community in mourning the passing of ThisDay Newspaper’s Edo State Correspondent, Mr. Adibe Emenyonu, describing his death as a painful loss to journalism, truth, and public service.
In a solemn visit to the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Benin City, on Monday, the PDP delegation, led by the State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Dan Osa-Ogbegie, and the immediate past Publicity Secretary, Chris Osa Nehikhare, signed the condolence register and offered words of comfort to the ThisDay family and the NUJ.
Speaking during the visit, Barrister Osa-Ogbegie said the late Adibe Emenyonu was a consummate professional who carried out his duties with courage, fairness, and a deep sense of responsibility..
“Adibe was more than a journalist; he was a bridge between the media and the political class. His reports were always balanced, factual, and deeply researched. We have lost a man whose commitment to truth and ethical reporting enriched our democracy,” Ogbegie said.
On his part, Chris Osa Nehikhare described Emenyonu as a man of integrity and principle, whose calm demeanor and devotion to accuracy earned him respect across political divides.
“Adibe was one of the few journalists who maintained cordial relationships with everyone while never compromising on truth. His passing is a huge blow to Edo’s media landscape,” Nehikhare said.
The Edo PDP prayed for the repose of his soul and the comfort of his family, urging journalists across the state to uphold the ideals of fairness, integrity, and courage that defined Emenyonu’s life and work.
