Okpebholo: Is he truly working?

Breaking: Go on, probe Obaseki – group urge Okpebholo

Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., has said the state government has entered into a partnership with Technology for Social change and Development Initiative (Tech4dev) to boost capacity of 3000 workers.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, Okungbowa Esq., said, “We have been working round the clock to ensure a huge balance of 100% at all levels of our work as public service. We have succeeded tremendously under the leadership of this government.

“As I speak to you, government has also ensured that there is contract running to extending fibre optic to all the nooks and crannies of the state so that our children in faraway Somorika, Igarra and uttermost parts of the state are able to access the internet and showcase their skills just as children in Benin.

He said “Mr Governor has said everyone in service who is not able to use computers needs to be trained. If you can’t use computers and you cannot use EGov, you can’t perform optimally. It’s a condition for you to grow and develop in the system service. For you to earn your promotion, you must be able to work on Edo State Government portal.”

Okungbowa noted that the Technology for Social change and Development Initiative will be assisting the Edo State Government to provide training for 3000 workers.

He said: “I have informed the Permanent Secretaries to find out who among the workers does not know how to use computers, so the government will begin from there.”

In his remarks, the Founder/President, Technology for Social Change and Development Initiative, Mr. Joel Ogunsola said as a non-profit organisation, our main focus is driving adoption of digital skills, the basic, intermediate and advanced level across different ranges of audiences.

“We have done this successfully over the last seven years with a range of partners from Microsoft, Facebook and the project to which we want to partner with Edo State has been supported by the UK government who is a long term existing partner of Edo State.”
