Edo govt seeks market women, traders buy-in on Health Insurance Scheme

Edo State Government has urged traders in the state to take advantage of the Edo Health Insurance Scheme (EDOHIS), to access quality and affordable healthcare services to avoid out-of-pocket spending for their healthcare needs.

Addressing traders during a sensitization programme, in Idogbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, the Director-General, Edo State Health Insurance Commission, Dr. Rock Amegor, said the scheme will assist traders in accessing quality and affordable healthcare.

He highlighted the benefits the traders stand to gain from the Edo State Health Insurance Scheme, noting, “I urge you to take advantage of the opportunity of the programme to reduce out-of-pocket expenses on healthcare.

“The scheme will also provide low-income earners quality and affordable healthcare services irrespective of their social class,” Amegor added.

A trader, Mrs. Esther Uyinosa, expressed appreciation to the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration for introducing the Edo Health Insurance Scheme to respond to the health needs of low-income earners.

She encouraged other traders to embrace the insurance package.
