Edo FA remains optimistic about 2026, Chairman disclose

The Edo State Football Association (EDFA) while looking ahead of the 2026 football year, has shown its optimism “that the 2026 football year will be more progressive and rewarding than 2025, as we continue to consolidate on existing structures, strengthen partnerships, and implement improved football development programs.

“We look forward to the commencement of the 2026 football season with the 2026 Edo State FA Cup, which will officially usher in another promising football year.”

The Association made this known via a statement by its Chairman, Fred Newton Erhunmwunse, on the 2025 Christmas Day.

According to Erhunmwunse, “the 2025 football year has been one of purposeful engagement, collective responsibility, and notable progress in the development of football across Edo State.

“The achievements recorded during the year—across competitions, administration, and grassroots football—were made possible through the dedication, cooperation, and unwavering support of all stakeholders.”

While congratulating all football clubs and individuals who emerged as winners of trophies in the various competitions organized during the year, EDFA also commended and recognized “all teams that finished in second, third, and fourth positions across all competitions, whose participation, discipline, and sportsmanship greatly enhanced the quality and competitiveness of Edo State football in 2025.”
