Edo State Police Command and the Directorate of State Services(DSS) have been notified of the latest development as regards who is the authentic candidate of the Labour Party(LP) in the bye-election to fill the vacant seat of the Edo Central Senatorial District which poll is slated for Saturday, August 16th.
The notification was initiated by the LP recognised candidate, Comrade Paul Omo Okojie, via a letter to this effect even as he sought for securitymen to be assigned to his campaign team as escorts as he commences his campaign tour soon.
It would be recalled that on Tuesday, the National Chairman of the LP, Barrister Julius Abure, handed over a Certificate of Returns(CoR) to Comrade Okojie, to officially put a seal on his authenticity as the party’s candidate.
On the occasion, Barrister Abure stated: “The Labour Party has only one senatorial candidate for Edo Central — and that is Hon. Paul Omo Okojie. His name has been duly submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and we are confident that he will emerge victorious at the polls.”
Barrister Abure, described Comrade Okojie as a symbol of the people’s aspiration for credible, responsible, and people-focused leadership.
