The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Edo State Governorship Campaign Council has debunked claims of the former governor of the state, Senator Adams Oshiomhole of the All Progressives Congress(APC) that Asue Ighodalo is not a candidate of the PDP in the Edo State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, September 21, laying claims to the judgement of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Deputy Director of Strategic Communications of the Campaign Council, Dr. Pedro Obaseki stated this at an interactive session with journalists at the state secretariat of the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ).
Dr. Obaseki said the court did not disqualify the PDP governorship candidate but only gave a judgement in his favour described APC as a failed party that was trying to convince the people with uncharitable words.
According to Dr. Obaseki, APC had only succeeded in fielding a candidate who cannot interface with the people, shying away from media engagement and speaking to the electorate through proxy.
He said: “APC candidate cannot interface with the people he intends to govern. He wants to govern a people who he cannot face and explain to them what he intends to do as governor of Edo State.”
He also condemned the age discrepancies of the the governorship candidate of APC, Senator Monday Okpebolo describing it as a dishonest act. Dr. Obaseki said the governorship candidate of PDP, Asue Ighodalo would bring his wealth of experience in the business world to bare in governing Edo State. He appealed to Edo people to vote massively for Ighodalo for transformation and to better the lots of the people.
