Edo 2024: Asue stands taller than the rest, says influencer

Iselobhor Airemen(aka Miyake), a musician of Edo State extraction, who is also a social media influencer campaigning for the emergence of Barrister Asue Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), standard bearer in the September governorship poll in the state, has stated that the party stands the best chance of winning.

He said: “Our chances are very bright because you will see that the present government of APC at the centre is not doing well. You will see that nothing is working and the cost of living is very high. Governor Godwin Obaseki has done so well. Over time he remains one of the best in the history of Edo State.

“If you dont share the state money among politicians they will pretend that they’re not seeing you do anything meaningful. Of all the candidates for the election Barrister Asue Ighodalo stands tall. He was a prominent member of the state Economic Team during the regime of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. He is still in the system. He is the Chairman of the Alaghodaro Summit.”

Miyake talking about factions in the PDP stressed: “I don’t see any faction in PDP. I am only seeing the greedy politicians who believe that the party leaders should be serviced. The state money is not meant for servicing just a few politicians but for the people of the state to live a better life. A better Edo should be our aim. We, the voters, know where we are going. PDP is one in Edo State. There is no faction.”

He commended Governor Obaseki on his choice of Hon. Marvellous Omobayo Godwins as the new deputy governor of the state.

“Over time the people of Akoko Edo Local Government Area have been sidelined. Governor Obaseki is making the best efforts to address the situation.”

Are you quitting showbusiness for politics?

“No. I am still an entertainer. As an entertainer you fight for justice and human rights. You should use your music to fight for good governance. Most times you tell government what to do to better the lives of the people.”

Miyake said his motivation in recently grading a road in Illeh, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area was to address the inability of farmers in the area to have access to their farmlands

“We must see what we can do to support the government. I found out that the farmers there had problem getting to their farmlands. It’s not about having much money. I don’t have much money. It’s about what you can do with the little amount that you have. I got payloaders to grade the road to link the communities to each other so that the farmers can get to their farms easily.”

What was the people’s reaction?

“The people were very happy because during campaigns politicians come there to solicit for votes but they dont bother to come back and keep to their promise of grading the road. The Esan West Local Government Council Chairman, Collins Aigbogun(aka Abuja) is doing well. He has graded many roads and many farmers can easily go to their farms.”
