There seems to be no end to the allegations and counter allegations that has so far characterised the Edo State governorship campaign especially between the two frontline political parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

On Sunday (15th August, 2020) afternoon, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a press briefing accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of cloning and mass producing Permanent Voters’ Card(PVC) with the intent to use it for the Edo State governorship election of Saturday, September 19, 2020.

According to Chris Nehikhare, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP, “the PDP has uncovered and formally reported to relevant authorities the various plans by the APC to compromise the forthcoming election through duplication, cloning and mass production of the Permanent Voters’ Card (PVC) which they intend to give to their agents and thugs to vote with.”

Going forward, the publicist stated: “the PDP looks forward to seeing the security agencies act to the effect of arresting individuals involved in this act capable of affecting the true wish of the people.”

He stated that the ward to ward campaign strategy adopted by Governor Godwin Obaseki “has rattled the APC to the extent that they are left with no other option than to create tension in the polity.”
