Barrister Faith Obasuyi, who is gunning for a seat in the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) on the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that she is gunning for the position as a result of her desire to impact positively on the lives of her constituents.

She made the revelation when she got endorsement from Female Advocacy Group(FAG), made up of female students of Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, via the award of Distinguished Female Personality ahead of her official flag-off on Monday, April 16th.

The FAG delegation to Obasuyi’s office for the award presentation led by Okpanachi Chubiyo-Ojo Rita said that they were honouring her for her chain of empowerment programmes, support for the needy, her entrepreneurship skills among many others.

In addition the group said that it is fully in support of her aspirations considering that her success would be a signpost for the female child to know that she can aspire to the highest level and succeed not minding the odds stacked against her.

Barrister Obasuyi disclosed that she cut her teeth in politics in her days at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU) where she emerged as the National Vice President of the National Association of Edo State Students(NAESS).

She said she decided to join the race for a seat in the Edo State House of Assembly in 2023 so as to translate to a larger scale her passion to impact on the lives of people using her solely self-funded NGO, Faith Obasuyi Foundation.

Barrister Obasuyi disclosed that some of the services she renders include, but is not limited to, offering prono bono legal services to indigent people, empowerment for youths, women and elderly etc.

Responding to the honour bestowed on her and endorsement by the FAG, the Edo State House of Assembly aspirant said: “I am so happy receiving this distinguished award today. I wasn’t expecting it. It has given me the green light to step up my game and do more than I have been doing before.”
