Dr. Dorry Afe Okojie gets another feather to his cap in Ewu Kingom

Dr. Dorry Afe Okojie, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) DAF Homes and Estates Ltd, was among the dignitaries who were honoured with awards for outstanding achievements in Ewu Kingdom in Edo Central Senatorial District of Edo State last yuletide season (Sunday, December 26th, 2021).

The historic occasion was the maiden edition of the Ewu International Day tagged ‘Eilu Cultural Festival 2021.’

In his speech on the occasion H.R.H Alhaji Razak Yusuf Isesele Ojeifo III, Onojie of Ewu Kingdom, said: “Ewu International Day, is an event we envisaged to be an annual ceremony intended to showcase our rich cultural heritage, values, dance, music, unity talks and all the good things that concerns us, as a people with a common history, emphasizing on unity, cohesion, building bridges of trust amongst all the various communities in Ewu, while also facilitating development projects in Ewu and laying a solid foundation for the building or development of human resources, both in politics, military, entrepreneurship e.t.c.

“Like every other community, we have had our period of great challenges. But I believe that such challenges can be overcome when we honestly and genuinely approach such issues in unison.

“We cannot underestimate the power of a united people who are determined to achieve a goal or purpose. Our forefathers were united, that is the reason they could influenced the establishment of Ewu Grammar School, the Nigeria Postal Service, Ewu Bendel Feeds and Flour Mill, Ewu.

“Also recently, we were able to approached the Edo State Government and World Bank who came to our aid by linking the terrible gully erosion problem in Ewu. So the issue of unity is fundamental. I express our gratitude to the Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for the great work done so far and also asked that, the second phase of the project should commence.

“I want to use this medium to appeal to our illustrious sons and daughters to come home and invest. This is the only way we can address the issue of joblessness in Ewu and also reduce the issue of rural–urban migration.

“The issue of insecurity has been a major concern, we have been doing our best to address it. I say a big thank you to Ewu Progressive Foundation (EPF), for the provision of a vehicle, motor bikes and other security gadgets to members of Ewu vigilantes. This will go a long way solving or reducing this insecurity in Ewu.”

Some of the other dignitaries at the occasion which was spiced with cultural displays include Senator Clifford Odia, Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District;
Mr. Monday Okpebholo, Chairman Chapman Computer Nig. Ltd and royal fathers.

The award to Dr. Okojie is among the several that the real estate entrepreneur, a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa), have been given in recent times by very credible organisations across the country.
