Dr. Chris Ekiyor, the Capoon of the Benin Metropolitan Chapter of the National Association of Seadogs(Benbow Deck), has reiterated the group’s commitment to healthy living conditions for all.

He stated that the group’s quarterly project of attending to the medical challenge of communities is sacrosanct and would be sustained throughout his tenure.

Speaking at a one day Medical Outreach programme held at RAHI Hospitals situated along Country Home, a suburb of Benin City over the weekend, Dr. Ekiyor disclosed: “This Medical Outreach is a tripartite project between the National Association of Seadogs (NAS), RAHI Hospitals and Eminent Minds Group.

“RAHI Hospitals is providing the manpower and venue; Eminent Minds Group is providing funding while NAS is providing manpower and funding. The funding ratio is 70 percent from Eminent Minds while 30 percent is from NAS.

“The project is centered in line with the SDG – providing health for all. Every quarter in a year we have an outreach which equals three outreaches throughout the year. We choose a strategic community where there is a gap. We go and provide free eye care eg if you have cataract we find a surgeon to intervene. We pay for these surgeries.

“If it is dental care, RAHI Hospitals has a full dental unit so each time we go out we deal with dental surgery. We do extractions, we do replacement dentures. All of these for free. We also do public health speaking and talk about living well amidst scourge of COVID, HIV etc. It is part of Pyrate Confraternity giving back to the world.”

Speaking about the project, Dr. Edward Aisowieren described it as “a laudable initiative where everything is offered for free to the people.”

A mother of four, who preferred her name been kept off the press, thanked the NAS for the programme saying that she and her four kids were attended to free of charge.
