Catch us if you can, PDP boasts ahead of local government councils polls

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asserted that it is battle ready for the forthcoming local government councils polls in the state.

Tony Aziegbemi, the Chairman of the party in the state, made the assertion on Tuesday afternoon in the party’s headquarters office in Benin City.

“We wish to state very clearly that we are ready for the elections. All the things that we need to do as a party we have done them. All arrangements have been made and it is a case of catch us if you can in terms of other political parties as far as the 2nd of September local government councils elections are concerned.”

He disclosed that the campaign, which will be led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, will be flagged off in Owan West Local Government Area on Thursday morning.

According to him, “the PDP is waxing stronger. We wish that Edo people will listen to our mesaage, our message of delivering the dividends of democracy to the people; our message of the fantastic job that the governor is doing in the state; our message that PDP is the only party in this state that can deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.”

Aziegbemi refuted the insinuations in some quarters that the PDP is bent on rigging the polls through the instrumentality of the state government power.

“We have no reason to do that(rig the election). If that was what we intended to do we won’t be going into the campaign with the governor himself leading the charge.”
