On the issue of the despicable viral video making the rounds emanating from the Igbinedion Education Centre, Benin City and the Police.
Since the emergence of the video a few days ago it has brought the issue of bullying in schools into the forefront and everyone is talking about how the issue can be tackled before it goes out of hand.
One thing that is worrisome is that the name of the school where the incident occurred as mentioned by everybody is IGBINEDION EDUCATION CENTER. It’s only in the press bulletin from the Edo State Police Command headquarters that the school’s name metarmophosed to IGBINEDION SECONDARY SCHOOL.
Whatever is the reason for the sudden change in name of the school in police records should be immediately addressed before it becomes an issue of technical absurdity in the law courts.
It’s the Police that will be investigating the crime and will be doing the legal aspects in the courts. Any slip in any area may lead to the case been disposed of based on technical grounds.
In Nigeria, nothing should be overlooked. The so assumed minor slip could be a way of the crime been deliberately muddled up to someone’s advantage.
On this note all eyes must now be on how the Police is handling the matter. As a local parlance states that a stitch in time saves many!
