Betsy Obaseki tournament: Edo show Bayelsa how to be good host

The maiden edition of the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament (BOWFT) has ended on Sunday, October 3rd, 2021, with Bayelsa State representatives, Bayelsa Queens, emerging the winners.

From their arrival in Benin on Sunday, September 26th to the end of the tournament they had a thrilling time in the hotel they were lodged in. Also anytime they’re on the field of play they got the support of the multitude of fans that thronged the match venue.

On the day of the final match if you’re not conversant with the situation on ground you will think that the Bayelsa Queens were the ones hosting the tournament.

The cheers and encouragement that they got from Benin footbal fans that evening was memorable. When they eventually lifted the trophy it was a grand occurrence as the stadium came alive in total support for the victorious Bayelsa ladies.

However, officials of the Edo Queens never had such a pleasant time when they travelled to Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital to honour a league match date with the Bayelsa Queens.

The players and officials of Edo Queens were said to have suffered humiliation as they were severally warned not to take their luck too far. Infact it took the intervention of some security personnel in the stadium who came to the rescue of the hapless visitors.
