APC leadership tussle in Edo: Ex-reps member disowned by party faithful

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State have disowned the purported installation of ex-rep member, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma as the “Apex Leader” of the party in the local government.

The party leaders which also included chairmen of ward 1 to 10 in the local government made the submission on Tuesday during an enlarged meeting where they reaffirmed Mr. Osarobo Idahosa as the authentic “Apex Leader” of the party in Ikpoba-Okha.

Woman leader of APC in the local government, Mrs. Esther Okperan, who expressed her solidarity with Idahosa’s leadership said they will resist those she discribed as Abuja politicians.

She said: “What is Agbonayinma looking for in APC leadership after he had been to the House of Representatives on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform. In his second attempt to go to the National Assembly, he was defeated by a House of Assembly member because the people did not feel his impact in his first term.”

Idahosa in his response thanked the party leadership for the confidence reposed in him saying “the APC legal adviser who supervised the purported installation of Agbonayinma acted the script of the state party’s scribe, Mr. Lawrence Okah.”

Idahosa warned that the conduct of the legal adviser was a recipe for crisis, adding that the APC leadership ought to focus on winning the September governorship election in the state. He however pledged his support to President Bola Tinubu and Senator Adams Oshiomhole’s leadership qualities to reposition the party at the National and Edo State level.
