Recently, members of the Edo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) went into ‘war’ on account of a programme planned by its Deputy National Treasurer, Hon. Omorede Marshal- Osifo, who is also a daughter of the state.

In this rejoinder she states her own side of the story:

The Office of the Deputy National Treasurer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been inundated with the news making the arounds of her proposed “Edo State APC Women Summit slated for the 31st August 2022.

It has become so imperative to set the record straight, that the Office of the Deputy National Treasurer as a political office has the right to convey, host summits, seminars, symposiums and some key selected programmes and activities across the states, regions and national levels like her counterparts in the build up to 2023 general elections. Its on record that most states have already hosted theirs and to avoid lacuna in the scheme of things hence this approach.

My pedigree is never in doubt in terms of wilder consultations, before, during and after while discharging the party’s responsibilities and mandates at all levels both past and present at all times with several commendations and acknowledgements across political structures.

And therefore the Summit was not arranged to disregard the All Progressives Congress Edo State Chapter or any other organs of the party be it ward, local government area, or at the national levels. As it is incumbent that all synergy can never be underestimated in party politics.

As a party woman, who loves to work with everyone, I decided to include the Edo State Woman Leader in my programme holding in Benin.

The program is my initiative to canvass support for our Presidential candidate and all Edo State candidates in the forthcoming elections. I sought the approval of the State Woman Leader which she gave! I also asked her to provide me with her photos for the invite, posters and jingles. Which she provided. Proof of which I have!

To my utmost surprise, she together with the State Chairman decided to take steps towards making mockery of a noble and result oriented programme put together to support my beloved party, APC, and my respected leader our Presidential candidate, the
Jagaban Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all Edo State candidates in the forthcoming elections by publishing the above Press Statement, which is to discredit my name and frustrate the programme. I have received calls from members of the State Working Committee (SWC) disassociating themselves from the said Press Statement since the State Working Commitee did not meet to take such a decision!

Therefore we wish to state categorically that the good intention should not be misconstrued out of context just as we engage other proactive measures in bringing to the fore bunner the greatest good to our great party by building bridges and consolidating our individual and collective effort for and on behalf of our great party at all times.
Since the State Woman Leader has withdrawn her initial approval to be part of this laudable programme which has received commendations from far and wide, I have expunged her name, photo and office from my programme which I initiated.

God bless Nigeria!! God bless the All Progressives Congress!!
God bless Edo State!!

Signed:
Hon Mrs Omorede Osifo-Marshal
(DEPUTY NATIONAL TREASURER ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC)
