WARNING: WE have Evidence of Clandestine Plots by some ‘Enemies of Democracy’ to disrupt Nigeria’s May 29 Swearing-In, Inauguration-Defence Headquarters

…Our professional and highly trained soldiers are on standby to forestall any unwanted happenings in the country before, during and after the handover

“As far as internal security is concerned, the police still remain the lead agency. The armed forces and other security operatives are only playing a supportive role.”

“The issue of threat to the security and stability of the country is addressed promptly. Elections have come and gone. For the presidential election, a winner has been announced. There is a transition committee in place comprising all members of the security agencies, ministries and agencies of government to make sure the event is held successfully and without a glitch. We don’t see reasons why there should be a problem during the activity. The inauguration will come and go and nothing will happen”-Maj. Gen. Musa Danmadami, Director of Defence Media Operations.

THREAT facing the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU is far from over as that date of May 29th has attracted the attention of global audience, even as Nigeria military authorities has assured of its readiness to peace, order and safety of lives. The military claimed it possesses evidence of underground plots by some ‘enemies of Nigeria’ to derail the nation’s democracy.

The military authorities said that its officers were on standby to forestall any unwanted happenings in the country before, during and after the handover.

The Defence Headquarters, Abuja, on Thursday warned Nigerians, especially politicians who might be planning to disrupt the inauguration of the “President-elect”, Bola Tinubu on May 29 to shelve their plans.

The military authorities said that its officers were on standby to forestall any unwanted happenings in the country before, during and after the handover.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Musa Danmadami, gave the warning while fielding questions from journalists shortly after the bi-weekly press briefing. Danmadami said that the military had not seen why Tinubu’s inauguration would not hold.

The military spokesperson said that “As far as internal security is concerned, the police still remain the lead agency. The armed forces and other security operatives are only playing a supportive role. I will reiterate that we are on standby to make sure that nothing unwanted happens.

“The issue of threat to the security and stability of the country is addressed promptly. Elections have come and gone. For the presidential election, a winner has been announced.

“There is a transition committee in place comprising all members of the security agencies, ministries and agencies of government to make sure the event is held successfully and without a glitch.

“We don’t see reasons why there should be a problem during the activity. The inauguration will come and go and nothing will happen. We are not going to relent at ensuring there is peace and stability across the length and breath of the country.”

Danmadami, who also reacted to issues of security in Southern Kaduna, urged residents of the State to dissociate the military from any form of sentiments, saying that the military is always ready to help, and that any matter reported to the high command against any of its personnel will thoroughly be investigated.

He said that “Whether we like it or not, sentiment will always come up, particularly when things are not favourable to your disposition. As it is normal in the military, when such allegations are raised, a board of inquiry would be raised to investigate the allegations.

“And whatever the outcomes and recommendations, they will be made to those commanders and it would be done accordingly.”
