President of One Love Foundation and media mogul, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor, a social crusader, has thrown jibes at some church leaders in the country for love of wordly things, adding that most of them live on people’s money.

In a chat, Eholor said that pastors must be cautioned, “we must face these bigots. We must talk to these pastors, prophets and prophetesses who have in a very long time tried to make Jesus business.

“They have turned our father’s house of worship to a den of thieves. They are the ones that encourage politicians. They pray for politicians in the front row even though they know some of these politicians are crooks and bandits.

“These people turn the church to a business area where the husband is General Overseer; the wife is President of the church; their daughter is the Secretary of the Church and their son is the Treasurer.

“And it becomes hereditary. When they are not here again they pass it on to their children. I have so many names I would have mentioned but I will not do it for the sake of peace.

“The churches can change Nigeria to a better country for all of us because they have congregation, they have followers who believe in them even though they don’t believe in God that they could speak to when the time of election comes.

“How they can vote something for the interest of the people. How they can all become a registered card carrier to vote out these political bandits we have had for so many years.”

Going forward, he asserted: “We have spent 21 years of democracy. We have never had any dividend of it. We have never had it so bad because the churches don’t care.

“They are making their money. They are telling people that when they go to heaven they will meet Jesus. Jesus Christ will make them smile, make them feel high. It is not true. God has done His own.

“Men build bridges. Men build hospitals. God is not coming here to do it for you. Our problem here is not about God but bad leadership. It is about bad pastors, bad prophets who are literally taking the minds of innocent people and twisting it around.”
Eholor said that “they(clerics) buy private jets with our money; they build schools that those who suffer and pay the tithes and offerings their children cannot attend it. Buddhists, Hare Krishnas and Muslims attend Christian schools because they can afford to pay the money.

“Where is the justice? We don’t want the likes of these fake prophets who are predicting elections but don’t have cure for covid-19. We don’t need these people who will tell you they communicate with God. God has a message for you. How did they get God’s telephone number? Did God delete them this time around?

“During the peak of the covid-19 pandemic when our children have been home not going to school. When people have being dying daily for cancer and other ailments. I can tell you without apology that 95 percent of the churches we have in Africa including Nigeria are fraud. They should bury their heads in shame and apologise to God and the people they have defrauded.”

He said that the churches connive with banks to steal people’s money.

“They pray for these bank managers. They also pray for civil servants who will steal money that is meant to do our street lights, our water etc. They will not ask questions where people get money to pay tithes and offerings.

“They don’t care if you get the money by kidnapping somebody. It is not fair for anybody to have rights over charitable funds. Most pastors live on people’s money. Most of them are motivational speakers.

“If you are in need of more knowledge go to Acts chapter 17 verse 11: ‘These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.’ “
