The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, member – elect representing Orhionmwon South Constituency in Edo State House of Assembly, Bright Iyamu, has promised to serve and give full support and dedication to the people of Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
Bright Iyamu gave the assurance during an interactive session at the Edo NUJ Situation Room hosted by the chairperson, Nigeria Association Of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) Edo State chapter, Adesuwa Ehimuan.
Iyamu who hails from Iguododo in Ugboko ward, Orhionmwon Local Government Area, commended the people for believing in him and voting for him to represent them.
He noted that he learnt during the electioneering process that all that glitters is not gold and never to trust easily. He went further to say that he also learnt a life-time lesson in the area of courage, patience, judgment, integrity, effective communication and perseverance.
The member-elect who listed some challenges faced by some communities in Orhionmwon to include lack of electricity, pipe borehole water, accessible roads, amongst others promised to come up with plans to ameliorate the plight of the people.
Bright Iyamu however, decried corruption, unhealthy political rivalry, ethnic conflict, abuse of power and use of political offices and positions for personal interest. He urged Nigerian politicians to be selfless and dedicated in performing their duties to ensure a better nation for the citizens.
