SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the PPRO of the Edo State Police Command while briefing the Press on Friday enumerated the Command’s achievements in the outgoing year(2022).
He said: “Edo State Police Command in its efforts to fight crimes and criminality in the state has recorded some achievements within 12 months, that is, from January to December 2022 in various violent crimes and other offences, that also includes arrest of suspects, rescue of victims, recovery of arms/ammunition, empty rifle magazines, empty ammunition shells, vehicles, tricycles.”
He gave a breakdown of the achievements as follows: 102 kidnapping suspects arrested; 68 kidnap victims rescued; 65 armed robbery suspects arrested; 58 armed robbers neutralized during operations; 2 human ritual suspects arrested; 193 cultists arrested; 16 defilement/rape suspects arrested and 64 murder suspects arrested.
Going further, he disclosed: “2 arson suspects arrested; 74 unlawful possession of firearm suspects arrested; 1 suspected IPOB/ESN member arrested; 6 AK-47 riffles recovered; 1 Berretta pistol recovered; 11 Pump-action guns recovered ; 69 locally made pistols recovered ; 176 cartridges recovered; 5 live ammunition recovered; 4 empty AK-47 magazines recovered; 16 empty AK-47 ammunition recovered; 5 vehicles and 2 tricycles recovered.
